Overview
Health tourism marketing is the digital marketing work involved in helping clinics and hospitals reach patients who travel internationally for treatment. It covers advertising, multilingual content, inquiry handling and measurement. It does not cover medical advice, clinical claims or treatment recommendations, which belong exclusively to licensed medical professionals.
Türkiye, and Antalya in particular, has become a significant destination for international patients. Moon Workshop is based in Antalya and provides the digital marketing side of that work: getting the right information in front of the right person, in their own language, in a way that complies with platform policy and local regulation.
What this service is and is not
It is: market selection, policy-compliant campaign management, multilingual landing pages, inquiry qualification workflows, CRM integration and honest reporting.
It is not: writing medical claims, promising outcomes, comparing treatments, publishing patient results, or advising anyone on whether a procedure is appropriate. Every piece of medical content we publish must be written or approved by the clinic’s qualified staff. We build the marketing structure around that content.
This distinction is not a disclaimer. It is the operating constraint that shapes the entire approach, because the platforms enforce it too.
Platform policy is the first design constraint
Healthcare advertising is one of the most heavily restricted categories on every major platform, and campaigns designed without policy in mind get disapproved, restricted or suspended.
| Platform | Key restrictions in this category |
|---|---|
| Google Ads | Restricted medical terminology, prohibited treatment claims, certification requirements for some healthcare categories, country-level limitations |
| Meta Ads | No targeting based on personal health attributes, restrictions on before-and-after imagery, prohibition on implying knowledge of a person’s condition |
| YouTube | Google healthcare policies plus additional creative review for medical content |
| Yandex Direct | Category-specific documentation and content requirements |
Two practical consequences follow. First, personalized ad copy of the “struggling with X?” type is generally not permitted on social platforms, because it implies knowledge of the viewer’s health status. Second, imagery that many clinics consider standard marketing material is frequently not eligible for paid distribution at all.
We review copy, creative and landing pages against current policy before launch, and re-verify when policies change. Platform policies are updated regularly, so we confirm current rules directly rather than relying on last year’s experience.
Choose fewer markets and serve them properly
The common failure pattern is advertising to every country at once with one English page and a single contact form. Inquiry volume looks acceptable and conversion to actual treatment is close to zero.
We prioritize one to three source markets based on:
- Language coverage your coordination team can genuinely support
- Competitive density and cost per click in that market
- Alignment between typical patient expectations and your clinic’s positioning
- Practical logistics — flight connections, visa considerations, typical stay length
- Your capacity to respond within hours, not days
A clinic that responds to a German inquiry in German within two hours will outperform a clinic advertising in eight countries with a shared inbox.
Landing pages carry the trust burden
Someone considering travelling to another country for treatment is making a high-stakes decision with incomplete information. The page has to reduce uncertainty.
What we build into each page:
- Native-language content, written by a speaker of that language
- Process transparency — what happens at each stage, from first contact to follow-up after returning home
- Clear practical information — what is included, what is not, typical duration of stay, accommodation and transfer arrangements
- Accreditation and credentials, stated factually and verifiably
- Accessible contact options — WhatsApp and messaging apps matter more than email forms for most source markets
- Response time expectations, stated and then honored
We do not build pages around outcome promises or comparative claims. Beyond being non-compliant, they do not convert the informed researcher this category attracts.
Lead qualification is the whole game
Raw inquiry counts mislead badly in health tourism. A campaign generating 200 inquiries at low cost is worse than one generating 40 qualified inquiries, if the 200 are unsuitable cases from markets you cannot serve.
Our workflow:
- Forms and messaging flows collect what coordinators need to assess viability
- Every inquiry enters the CRM with its source, campaign and landing page preserved
- Coordinators classify each inquiry as qualified or not, with a reason
- Qualified inquiries are fed back to the ad platforms as offline conversions
- Targeting, copy and pages are adjusted based on where the qualified ones come from
Step four is what changes performance. Once the platforms optimize toward qualified inquiries rather than form submissions, cost per viable patient falls even if raw lead volume drops.
The decision cycle is long
International patients research for weeks or months, compare several clinics, read reviews in their own language and often contact multiple providers before deciding. Marketing has to support that timeline: informational content for the research phase, remarketing that stays visible without becoming intrusive, and follow-up sequences that keep the clinic present without pressure.
Judging campaign performance after two weeks in this category produces the wrong conclusion almost every time.
