What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file saved to your browser when you visit a website. Cookies keep your session alive, remember your language preference, measure how you use the site and evaluate advertising performance.

A cookie alone does not reveal your identity, but combined with other data it can qualify as personal data. That is why non-essential cookies run only with your consent.

Similar technologies such as browser local storage and pixel tags are also covered by this policy.

Types of cookies used

1. Strictly necessary cookies

Required for the site to work: security, language preference and basic navigation. They cannot be switched off and do not require consent.

2. Analytics cookies

Measure which pages are viewed, how long a visit lasts and where visitors run into friction. The data is used to improve content and site structure. These depend on your consent.

3. Marketing cookies

Used to measure ad conversions and to remarket to site visitors across the Google and Meta networks. These depend on your consent.

Consent and changing your preferences

Non-essential cookies do not run on your first visit until you consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing the site data in your browser and setting your preference again.

Withdrawing consent does not invalidate processing that was lawful before the withdrawal; it takes effect going forward.

Managing cookies in your browser

Every modern browser lets you view, delete and block cookies. The relevant settings are usually found here:

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

If you block strictly necessary cookies, functions such as form submission, language preference and map display may not work as expected.
